A Prescription for Delirium Stops on my Blog Today

Thankfully, I have met so many cool people while I have been doing this blog...Noree Cosper has been one of those people. I love interacting with her on Twitter and she is very, very cool! Fortunately for me and for you, her blog tour is stopping here. I have read most of "A Prescription for Delirium" (TBR list is pretty big right now) and I will be reviewing it here soon. You should definitely give it a try. Noree is really gifted! I am loving this book!
Today, you get a unique pleasure of looking into the journals of one of the main characters. Adrian Van Helsing is definitely a unique character!

I tire of working for these fools. They know nothing, but are still in charge. It’s time I look into working on my own creations. I’ve decided to research and develop nanotechnology. I have to admit the subject of manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale has fascinated me. I am more interested in looking into the self-assembly side of things. To have a robot, invisible to the naked eye, create something from the ground up will prove a great challenge.

Controlling the nanomachines is proving difficult. The technology used to communicate with them is rudimentary at best. If I’m going to get anywhere with this I need to develop my own form of communication.

I have created a program that works well for controlling the nanomachines. The disassembly/assembly aspect is fascinating. The nanites can break down the structure of any object within minutes, and, from the readings I have gotten, understand the makeup of that object. The nanites can then use the material to create another structure from the bottom up. They also replicate so quickly, on machine can become 10,000 in the matter of minutes.

My creations have boosted my productivity. I’ve even started developing new projects the company is unaware of. Still, I feel there is more I can do with the nanomachines. It may be possible to control them through my brain. I’m beginning experimentation. Raina Beau has approached me about joining her team at work. There is something about her I find interesting.

I developed a transmitter that will use radio waves to communicate my thoughts to the nanites. The machines have iron nano-particles which act as antenna for other nano-particles to send commands. The transmitter will allow the commands to be mental instead of from an outside source. I’m going to inject myself with a group of nanites and the transmitter. The machines are programmed to implant the device in my brain. Even though Raina and I have proven to be good together, I am hesitant to explain my personal project to her. I will keep it my secret.

No progress yet. I am not sure when this will take effect. It should have been immediate. I will continue to adjust.

Failure. I’m getting no response from the nanites when I send a command. Perhaps I have reached the boundary of the machines capability. I think it is time I take a break from this experiment. Thanks to Raina, the company has been looking to me for their more secretive projects. I doubt any of these are actually legal, not that it matters as long as I am getting compensation.

I saw a vampire at the company last night. Raina was entertaining him. I think he is an important client for the company. It shouldn’t be my business, but it is. As much as I try to avoid my family business, I can’t ignore what is right in front of me. I think it’s time I pick up my stake and hunt this leech down.

Thanks to the leech, I’ve fallen into a trap. He has informed Interpol and the America’s own homeland Security of the possible under-dealings my team is involved in. I thought I had the vampire within my grasp. Instead I am surrounded by federal agents. It would have been all over but something extraordinary happened.  Extraordinary and excruciating. My area behind my right eyes started pounding. I could hear a busing in my ears. The world slowed and the building pressure behind my eye exploded. I awoke after some time to find my right eye missing. The agents were no more. The nanites had attacked them, leaving no evidence. It seems the adrenaline rush I felt triggered something with the device. It is working, the nanites obey my command, but I have paid a price. I have arrived at the lab to gather what I can because it looks like I will be on the lam. I always wanted to use that phrase.

Adrian was arrested by Homeland Security for Arms trafficking on August 30, 2009. He was incarcerated for two years until his escape.

Noree Cosper loves writing about magic in the modern world. While growing up in Texas she constantly searched for mystical elements in the mundane. She buried her nose in both fiction and books about Wicca, Religion, and Mythology. Everyday became an adventure as she joined a group of role-players, acting out her fantasies of vampires, demons, and monsters living in the world.
